Hon. Rosalina Jalosjos, city mayor of Dapitan City emotionally said, “I am very grateful especially for the farmers since this project can significantly improve their lives. This made me cry because I came from a family of farmers myself and I know just how hard life is living in subsistence. Because of our beloved Senator Cynthia Villar, the farmers now have this chance for a better life. So, I encourage the farmers to take good care of the animals entrusted to them.”

The recipients of the crossbred dairy buffaloes are Farmer Livestock School on Dairy Buffalo Production (FLS-DBP) participants which are currently being conducted in two sites by accredited FLS-DPB facilitators, which include PCC and Local Government Unit (LGU) personnel and progressive farmers. This is part of capacity building of primary stakeholders that help dairy farmers augment their learning experiences on dairy buffalo management and production.

The said activity is an intervention under the Accelerating Livelihood and Assets Buildup for carabao production (ALAB-Karbawan) project of the PCC.This aims to establish a province-wide Carabao-Based Business Improvement Network to propel an inclusive, sustainable and highly competitive local dairy industry.

The second phase of ALAB-Karbawan will cover technical services, mentoring, monitoring and provision of post-harvest facilities and other support services to the conduit cooperatives of the project.

Stock upgrading and infusion of genetically improved carabaos will increase milk and meat production, thus, creating income generation of the farmers and engagement on the carabao-based enterprises.
