DA-PCC WVSU, BNDC lead groundbreaking of Dairy Box in Iloilo

The Philippine Carabao Center at WVSU, in partnership with Barotac Nuevo Development Cooperative, held a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Dairy Box on September 27 in Brgy. Tabuc Suba, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo.

The ceremony was led by former congressman Dr. Ferjenel G. Biron, Congressman Braeden John Q. Biron, Mayor Bryant Paul Q. Biron, PCC WVSU Center Director Arn D. Granada, BNDC Chairperson Antonio Belluga, Vice-chairperson Angelito Dasmarinas,  and Board of Director members Edwin Besana, Cyril Sazon, Dydu Bontigao, Romelo Velez and Manager Dinah Denaque.

Senator Cynthia A. Villar, chairperson of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform, gave her virtual message for the said ceremony.

“Kailangan nating palakasin ang milk production sa 4th District ng Iloilo, para ang kanilang mga magsasaka na miyembro ng Barotac Nuevo Development Cooperative ay magkaroon ng dagdag-kita sa gatas ng kalabaw na pwedeng isama sa milk feeding program ng DepEd at DSWD. Mahalaga sa akin ang pagpapaganda ng dairy industry ng Pilipinas,” she said.

The event was in connection with PCC’s CBIN program that aims to establish Carabao - based Business Improvement Network propelling an inclusive, sustainable, and highly competitive local dairy industry.

The CBIN program in Panay island was pioneered in the Province of Antique, particularly in the municipalities of Hamtic and Pandan, Antique last 2019. The project initially provided assets, such as breeding carabaos, equipment, supplies, and technical support through training and extension services.
