Ehime-AI Probiotics, UMMB, ibinahagi sa PCC-RDD Technical Caucus Ang Ehime-AI Probiotics ay isang teknolohiya mula sa Ehime Prefecture na nakatutulong sa pagpapaganda ng body condition (immune system) ng hayop habang ang Urea Molasses Mineral Block (UMMB) naman ay suplementong pakain. Binigyang-diin ni Dr. Marvin Villanueva, hepe ng PCC Biosafety and Environment Section (BES), ang maaaring kagandahang hatid ng Ehime-AI Probiotics lalo’t unang susubukan pa lang itong gamitin ng PCC. “Bukod sa pagpapalusog ng kalabaw, maaaring maiwasan ang mastitis gamit ang teknolohiyang ito. Madali rin siyang isagawa,” ani Dr. Villanueva. Kabilang ang mastitis sa tatlong pangunahing sakit na kalimitang dinaranas ng kalabaw. Ayon kay Dr. Villanueva, base sa tala noong 2018, nasa 15% ang kaso ng mastitis sa PCC National Impact Zone (NIZ) o Nueva Ecija. Ang mastitis ay ang pamamamaga ng dede ng kalabaw na nagdudulot ng pagbaba ng produksyon at kalidad ng gatas. “Upang makagawa ng probiotics, paghalu-haluin lamang ang Natto beans, dry yeast, pulot, yogurt, at tubig sa botelya. Iwan ito ng bahagyang nakabukas ang takip sa temperaturang 35°C ng hindi bababa sa isang linggo,” ani Dr. Yoshida. Ang Natto beans ay fermented soy beans ng Japan na kalimitang mabibili sa mga Japanese stores. Maaaring ihalo ang 60 ml ng probiotics sa pakain o tubig ng kalabaw. Dinaluhan ng mga piling empleyado ng PCC RDD at ilang magsasaka ng PCC NIZ ang Caucus. Nagpunta rin si RDD chief Annabelle Sarabia. Ang nasabing aktibidad ay pinangunahan ng PCC BES at PCC NIZ team. “Sa ngayon, magkakaroon tayo ng iba’t ibang pag-aaral upang makita natin ‘yong epekto ng probiotics. Susubukan natin maghanap ng alternatibo sa Natto beans dito sa Pilipinas kung sakaling maging epektibo ang teknolohiyang ito,”paglalahad ni Dr. Villanueva.
