Sila ang tagapagtaguyod ng isang matatag at progresibong industriya,” ani Department of Agriculture for Policy and Planning Undersecretary Segfredo Serrano sa kanyang mensahe sa 26th anniversary program ng Philippine Carabao Center (PCC) noong ika-27 ng Marso sa PCC National Headquarters and Gene Pool sa Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija. ‘Agripreneurship’ daan tungo sa mas matibay, progresibong industriya —Serrano Kabilang sa mga nagsipagdalo sa programa ay mga magkakalabaw na ngayo’y negosyante na rin o tinatawag na “carapreneurs” (pinaigsing termino para sa carabao entrepreneurs). Ang tema ng anibersaryo ay “Empowering ‘Carapreneurs’: Our Purpose in Focus”. “Aming tinawag ang mga magkakalabaw na “carapreneurs” sapagka’t nais namin silang mag-alaga ng mga kalabaw at maging mga matalinong negosyanteng kayang palaguin ang kanilang kabuhayan,” ani Dr. Arnel del Barrio, PCC executive director. Ang librong “25 Faces of Success in Carapreneurship” at isang bagong audio-visual presentation ay inilunsad bilang bahagi ng programa. “Aming tinunton ang mga kuwento ng mga “carapreneurs” na ngayo’y inaani na ang mga matatamis na benepisyo mula sa kanilang pagpapagal sa kabila ng mga hirap na kanilang dinanas,” ani Rowena Bumanlag, anniversary overall chair at tagapamuno ng Applied Communication Section ng PCC Knowledge Management Division. Samantala, binigyang-pugay naman ni Usec. Serrano ang PCC sa walang humpay nitong pagtulong sa pagpapaangat ng estado ng pamumuhay ng mga maliliit na magsasaka sa kanayunan sa tulong ng kalabaw bilang instrumento ng pag-unlad. Ang lundo ng anniversary program ay ang pagpaparangal ng mga natatanging “carapreneurs” at magkakalabaw sa iba’t ibang kategorya. Si Carlo Magno Abellanosa ng Don Carlos, Bukidnon ay nagkamit ng parangal sa “Best Family Module”; ang Catalanacan Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CAMPCI) ng Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija ay pinangalanan na “Best Dairy Buffalo Farmer Cooperative”; si Erlinda Mercader ng San Jose City, Nueva Ecija ay nagkamit ng titulong “Modelong Juana sa Pagkakalabawan”; at si Rolly Richard Zalameda ng Ormoc City, Leyte ay naging “Huwarang Kabataan sa Pagkakalabawan”; si Leopoldo Marcos ng San Jose City, Nueva Ecija ay kinilala bilang “Outstanding Dairy Buffalo Farmer” smallhold category; si Eliseo Mislang ng San Jose City, Nueva Ecija bilang “Outstanding Dairy Buffalo Farmer” sa semi-commercial category; at Andy Poe Garcia ng Magalang, Pampanga bilang “Outstanding Dairy Buffalo Farmer” sa commercial category. Si Miguel Alfonso ng CAMPCI ang nanalo ng “Gintong Kalabaw Cup” bilang may-ari ng “Best Senior Dairy Buffalo Cow”. May mga bagong kategorya ngayong taon na naidagdag sa hanay. Si Carlos Cruz ng Tanay, Rizal ay pinangalanan bilang “Outstanding Independent Dairy Farmer” sa semi-commercial category habang si Ernesto Padolina ng General Tinio, Nueva Ecija ang kinilala sa commercial category. Bukod sa anniversary program, mayroon pang ibang aktibidad na ginanap sa loob ng limang araw na selebrasyon ng anibersaryo ng PCC mula Marso 25 hanggang Marso 29. Kabilang dito ang “R4D Pre In-House Review” kung saan higit sa 20 research papers ang sinuri. Sa “Farmer’s Field Day-cum-Technology Showcase” ipinakita sa isang eksibit ang value chain sa dairy buffalo production and management. Sa “PCC Employees’ Night” pinarangalan naman ang mga natatanging empleyado ng ahensiya: Dr. Daniel Aquino ng PCC sa Central Luzon State University (PCC @CLSU), “Outstanding Center Director”; Ludivina Estimo ng PCC sa University of Southern Mindanao, “Outstanding Supervisor”; Engr. Fiorelia Aguinaldo ng PCC@CLSU, “Outstanding Development Officer”; at Ma. Corazon Casal ng PCC sa University of the Philippines Los Baños, “Outstanding Support Staff”. Ang mga empleyadong nagpamalas ng matapat na paglilingkod sa mahabang panahon sa PCC ay kinilala rin.
