Bohol Dairy opens new outlet

Despite the unprecedented effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Bohol Dairy Cooperative (BODACO) still managed to open its newest outlet at San Pascual, Ubay, Bohol last June.

In the launching activity, Ptr. Roger Damalerio, chairman of BODACO, said this initiative aims to make the products available and accessible to a larger community especially now that people are encouraged to minimize travels to avoid contracting the virus.

San Pascual Barangay Captain Renato Abasida Jr. expressed his gratitude to the cooperative for providing his constituents easy access to nutritious and affordable dairy products. He said he is happy to  support the co-op in whatever way he can.

Guillerma Abay-abay, Carabao-Based Enterprise Development (CBED) program coordinator of the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Carabao Center at Ubay Stock Farm (DA-PCC at USF), led the ceremonial milk toast during the event.

“The ceremonial milk toast symbolizes our commitment to support BODACO’s cause by helping ensure its success knowing that  the outlet brings opportunities for our dairy farmers”, Abay-abay quoted.

Always happy to share her backstory as a dairy farmer, Marilou Rojo, vice chairperson of BODACO, narrated how carabao dairying has saved her family from barely scraping by.

Her measure of success, she said, is that she was able to pay for her children’s schooling with what she was earning from dairying. In fact, five of them have already finished college education.

The opening ceremonies also included promotional activities for Bohol Dairy’s soft ice cream, given for free to the first 100 customers, and DA-PCC’s newest product “Milkybun”.
