DA-PCC backs local dairy sector at World Milk Day celebration

DA-PCC Executive Director Dr. Liza G. Battad reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to advancing the local dairy industry through carabao-based enterprises, citing the animal’s important contribution to increasing local milk production and improving the lives of farming communities.

She also expressed the agency’s continued support for the National Dairy Authority (NDA) in its efforts to achieve national dairy sufficiency and promote better nutrition for Filipinos.

“At the DA-PCC, our mandate to conserve, propagate, and promote the carabao as a versatile animal aligns perfectly with the goals of this fair,” Dr. Battad said in her message during the Dairy Fair held today, May 30, 2025, at Risen Garden, Quezon City Hall.

The Dairy Fair, organized by the NDA in partnership with the Quezon City Government and its Small Business and Cooperatives Development and Promotions Office, was held in celebration of World Milk Day, which is observed globally on June 1.

The event highlighted the value of milk in food security and nutrition, as well as served as a platform for cooperatives, small dairy farmers, and entrepreneurs to promote their products and gain a wider market share.

DA-PCC's dairy products' outlet, Milka Krem, also joined the roster of exhibitors to showcase high-quality local dairy products.

World Milk Day celebrates milk's contribution to healthy diets and the dairy industry's role in sustainable food systems and economic growth.
