ACCRACO adds lacto-juice, yogurt to its milk products

Following a successful training and promotion of pasteurized and chocolate milk in March 2025, the Alaminos City Carabao Raisers Agriculture Cooperative (ACCRACO) processors underwent additional training on product value creation of lacto-juice and yogurt in San Roque, Alaminos City, Pangasinan, on May 26-27, 2025.

The training aimed to assist dairy farmers in earning income by utilizing and processing carabao milk, providing processors with knowledge of milk quality testing, and adhering to good manufacturing practices in the processing facility.

ACCRACO's Chairperson, Olivia Palazo, announced that they have requested training in lacto-juice and yogurt production to add new products, as milk production is increasing due to carabaos giving birth and being pregnant.

“Ngayon, mayroon na kaming nalilikom na gatas na 14 sa isang araw. Sunud-sunod ang panganganak ng mga kalabaw at nabuntis kaya’t tuluy-tuloy na rin ang milk production namin,” she said.

Palazo also mentioned that customers in the city are looking for lacto-juice and yogurt; hence, they’ve chosen such products for the training.

Jan Rose Maon, the center's food safety compliance officer and training coordinator, stated that processing raw milk is the best and most effective way to extend its shelf life, given that the cooperative has begun to increase its milk production.

Since launching its pasteurized and chocolate milk in March, the co-op has earned nearly PHP50,000 in sales in just two months.

“Noong sinimulan na naming i-market ang aming mga produkto, nakalikom na kami ng mahigit-kumulang PHP50,000 na kita at nagpoproseso kami ng isang beses sa isang linggo,” Palazo explained.

She also noted that milk processing created job opportunities and side hustles for their co-op members. Additionally, they plan to make ice cream from carabao milk in the future.
