Cecilia Irang Kamakailan ay itinampok sa isang pagtitipon ng Department of Agriculture-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) ang kahalagahan ng agrikultura at ang papel na ginagampanan ng mga kababaihan sa sektor. Notice: Undefined variable: imgDesc in C:\laragon\www\post.php on line 114 Ayon kay Arn Granada, officer-in-charge ng DA-PCC sa West Visayas State University (WVSU), hindi maipagkakaila ang natatanging papel ng kababaihan sa agrikultura at sa pag-unlad panlipunan at pang-ekonomiya. Halimbawa, aniya, makikita ang lakas- kababaihan sa negosyong gatasan. Ito ay kanyang ibinahagi sa pagdiriwang ng “2nd Semana Sang Mangunguma” (Linggo ng Magsasaka), isang inisyatibang inilunsad ng local government unit ng Calinog at Department of Agriculture. Ang aktibidad, na may layuning isulong ang organikong pagsasaka, ay isinagawa sa pagtutulungan ng DA-PCC@WVSU at Calinog Farmers Agriculture Cooperative. Naging tema sa taong ito ang: “Kauswagan handumon, palibot tatapon, organiko nga panguma talupangdon, dagaya nga ani aton maanghon, seguridad sa pagkaon maangkon!” (Kaunlaran pangarapin, kapaligiran ay alagaan, organikong pagsasaka ay bigyang-pansin, saganang ani magiging atin, seguridad sa pagkain ay makakamit!). Nakatuon ang tema sa papel ng organic agriculture tungo sa progresibong pamayanan na may seguridad sa pagkain. Sumabay ang pagdiriwang sa paggunita ng National Women’s Month na ginaganap tuwing Marso. Aabot sa 350 litrong flavored na gatas ng kalabaw ang ipinamahagi sa mga kooperatiba at asosasyon ng mga magsasaka na nagsidalo sa nasabing pagtitipon. Ang 2nd Semana Sang Mangunguma ay ginanap noong Marso 2-8 sa Calinog Public Plaza sa Calinog, Iloilo. Ito ay taunang selebrasyong ginagawa sa Calinog upang magbigay-pugay sa mga magsasaka at ipagdiwang ang masaganang ani.
