Cecilia Irang & Victor Geroche DA-PCC sa LCSF —Dalawampu’t tatlong native na kalabaw ang nakaplanong ipamahagi sa taong ito sa mga magsasaka ng Negros Oriental sa ilalim ng Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program ng Department of Agriculture bilang suporta sa kanilang kabuhayan. Dalawampu’t tatlong native na kalabaw ang nakaplanong ipamahagi sa taong ito sa mga magsasaka ng Negros Oriental sa ilalim ng Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program ng Department of Agriculture bilang suporta sa kanilang kabuhayan. Kaugnay nito, nagsagawa ng mga pagsasanay ang DA-PCC sa La Carlota Stock Farm (DA-PCC sa LCSF) sa mga magsasakang benepisyaryo ng SAAD program tungkol sa wastong pangangalaga at pamamahala ng kalabaw noong Oktubre 1 at Oktubre 14 sa munisipalidad ng Tayasan at La Libertad. Maliban sa kalabaw, tatanggap din ng pang-araro ang mga napiling asosasyon ng magsasaka. Nagsimula ang mga serye ng pagsasanay sa Negros Oriental noong Oktubre 1 kung saan 36 na magsasaka mula sa barangay ng Pinocawan, Panubigan, at Tanlad sa Tayasan ang dumalo. Binigyang-diin ni Sarah Perocho, agricultural program coordinating officer ng Negros Oriental, ang kahalagahan ng pagpapaunlad sa kakayahan at kaalaman ng mga magsasakang benepisyaryo para masiguro na mapakikinabangan nila nang tuluy-tuloy ang mga interventions na kanilang natanggap dahil malaking tulong ito sa kanilang kabuhayan lalo na sa panahon ng pandemya. Kabilang sa mga paksang tinalakay ng DA-PCC sa LCSF sa pagsasanay ay ang forage production at proper feeding, ruminant health management, at pagpapalahi sa kalabaw sa pamamagitan ng artificial insemination. Tinalakay din ang potensyal ng kalabaw bilang mapagkukunan ng gatas at karne. Ang mga kalahok ng pagsasanay na isinagawa noong Oktubre 14 sa Barangay Pacuan, La Libertad ay nakibahagi rin sa aktwal na paggawa ng Urea-Treated Rice Straws (UTRS). Dalawa pang pagsasanay ang nakatakdang isagawa bago matapos ang taong ito sa munisipalidad ng Mabinay at Sta. Catalina sa Nobyembre 12 at 26.
