Linggo ng magsasaka sa Iloilo Apr 2021 CaraBalitaan Philippine Carabao Center, Department of Agriculture By Mary Antonette Andarza DA-PCC sa WVSU — Nakibahagi ang DA-PCC sa West Visayas State University (DA-PCC sa WVSU) sa pagdiriwang ng ‘Semana sang Mangunguma’ or Linggo ng Magsasaka sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng pagsasanay sa Carabao Herd-Health Management na pinangunahan ni Dr. Myrtel C. Alcazar, Genetic Improvement Program Coordinator. Linggo ng Magsasaka Tinukoy din ni Janice H. Cuaresma, CBED Coordinator, ang patungkol sa carabao-based enterprise. Namigay din sila ng hygiene kits sa mga dumalong mga kababaihan bilang pagkilala sa mga magsasakang kababaihan na bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng International Women’s Month. Ang naturang pagdiriwang ay ginagawa ng Calinog, Iloilo taun-taon sa buwan ng Marso. Pinangungunahan ito ng Municipal Agricultural Office at nilalahukan ng mga asosasyon ng mga magsasaka at mga piling ahensya ng gobyerno.Ang Linggo ng Magsasaka ngayong taon ay may temang, “Mangunguma maghugpong, COVID-19 atubangon. Bastante kag Masustansya nga Pagkaon padamuon, Organiko nga Pagpanguma padayunon, Kauswagan sang Banwa kag Ikaayong lawas Maangkon”. [Magsasaka magkaisa, COVID-19 harapin, sagana at masustansiyang pagkain paramihin, organikong pagsasaka ipagpatuloy, kaunlaran ng bayan at malusog na katawan ay makakamit.] Sa kaniyang mensahe, binigyang pugay ni Arn D. Granada, Center Director ng DA-PCC sa WVSU, ang mga magsasaka at lokal na pamahalaan ng Calinog. “Pinupuri ng DA-PCC at WVSU ang mga magsasaka ng Calinog, dahil sa kabila ng pandemya na dulot ng COVID-19, patuloy silang nagsisilbi sa bayan. Dahil sa kanila ay ‘di tayo nagutom sa panahon ng pandemya at pagbagsak ng ekonomiya. Darating ang araw na hindi na tayo kinakailangang umangkat ng pagkain mula sa ibang bansa dahil magiging sapat na ang ating produksiyon, sa tulong ng lokal na pamahalaan. Nawa’y ipagpatuloy ng bayan ng Calinog ang pagpupugay sa ating mga magsasaka, at nawa’y umunlad pa ang sektor ng pagsasaka sa bayang ito,” aniya. Ang programa ay nagtapos sa isang makabuluhang Milk Toast na sumisimbolo sa pangako ng bayan ng Calinog na isulong ang organikong pagsasaka at pagsuporta sa mga magsasaka. Dinaluhan ito nina Hon. Renato Magpantay, Sangguniang Bayan Member, Gelmina Cartel, Municipal Agriculture Officer, representante ni Hon. Francisco Calvo, municipal mayor ng Calinog Iloilo, at Marlon Cerbo, chairman ng Calinog Farmers Agriculture Cooperative.
