Cecilia Irang & Joel Cabading DA-PCC sa CSU — Matagumpay na naisagawa ang kauna-unahang trial production ng sterilized carabao’s milk noong Mayo 28 sa Amancio Nicolas Agri-Tourism Academy (ANATA) sa Isabela kung saan 780 pakete ang naprodyus sa isang oras. Retort facility ng ANATA Ayon sa mga eksperto, kinakailangang obserbahan ang samples ng nasabing produkto sa loob ng 30 araw alinsunod sa protocol ng operasyon bago ito tuluyang iprodyus nang maramihan. Nasa 25,000 pakete kada araw ang target na maprodyus gamit ang kauna-unahang retort facility sa Cagayan Valley. Layunin ng retort facility ang isterilisasyon ng gatas ng kalabaw sa Region 2 o Cagayan Valley upang mas mapaigting pa ang produksyon at pagsasapamilihan ng gatas sa KIsAViQ dairy zone na kinabibilangan ng mga probinsya gaya ng Kalinga, Isabela, Aurora, Nueva Vizcaya, Ifugao, at Quirino. Ito ay inaasahan ding makatutulong sa pagtupad ng tungkulin nito para sa School-based Feeding Program (SBPF) ng Department of Education (DepEd) sa ilalim ng RA 11037 o “Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act”. Sa pangunguna ni Noime Liangco, may-ari ng ANATA, handa na ngayon ang team KIsAViQ na pagsama-samahin, iproseso, at ipamahagi ang sterilized carabao’s milk sa malalayong lugar sa hilagang bahagi ng Luzon, na inaasahang makatutulong sa pagpapabuti ng kalusugan ng mga batang kulang sa nutrisyon. Kaugnay nito, nagpaabot din ng suporta ang mga inaasistehang kooperatiba ng DA-PCC sa rehiyon gaya ng Quirino Dairy Cooperative (QUIDACO) sa Maddela, Quirino at San Agustin Dairy Cooperative (SADACO) sa San Agustin, Isabela kung saan nangako silang pagsasama-samahin ang mga sobrang gatas ng kanilang kooperatiba upang makapag-ambag sa pagpapanatili at pagsasakatuparan ng mga adhikain ng dairy zone. Naganap ang unang pagpupulong at strategic plan noong Disyembre 11, 2020 sa Amancio Hotel, Cordon, Isabela sa pamamagitan ng inisyatiba ng DA-PCC sa Cagayan State University (DA-PCC sa CSU), na pinamumunuan ni Dr. Rovina Piñera; at Dr. Caro B. Salces, Deputy Executive Director for Admin and Finance ng DA-PCC. Lumahok din sa pagpupulong sina Ms. Liangco, DA-PCC’s OIC-Planning Officer Dr. Ericson N. Dela Cruz at National Milk Feeding Program Coordinator Ms. Mina P. Abella, at iba pang mga empleyado ng DA-PCC sa CSU. Ang isinagawang strategic planning ay isang hakbang upang matukoy ang direksyon kung paano mapalalago ang paggagatasan sa rehiyon. Sa pamamagitan ng kasalukuyang interbasyon, kumpiyansa ang DA-PCC na mas maraming bata ang makatatanggap ng gatas ng kalabaw lalo na sa malalayong lugar na dating hindi naaabot ng programa.
