Unang hakbang sa ‘kala-niyugan’ ng Leyte Jun 2021 CaraBalitaan Philippine Carabao Center, Department of Agriculture, Philippine Coconut Authority By Emy Goritte Gorra DA-PCC sa VSU —Bilang pagpapatuloy sa pagpapalaganap ng Coconut-Carabao Development Project (CCDP) sa Eastern Visayas, nagsagawa ng isang writeshop session noong Hunyo 11 ang DA-Philippine Carabao Center sa Visayas State University (DA-PCC sa VSU) katuwang ang DA-Philippine Coconut Authority (DA-PCA) Region VIII sa Carigara, Leyte–isa sa mga nasasakupang lugar ng CCDP para sa rehiyon. Writeshop session para sa pagsisimula ng CCDP Kalahok sa nasabing session ay ang mga kawani ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Carigara, DA-PCC, at DA-PCA at mga miyembro ng Kangara Multipurpose Cooperative (KMPC) at Macalpi Community Multipurpose Cooperative (MCMC). Ang writeshop session ay isang bahagi ng inisyal na aktibidad para sa pagtatalaga ng CCDP, isang inisyatiba na itinataguyod ng opisina ng Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food and Agrarian Reform sa pangunguna ni Senator Cynthia Villar. Sa ilalim ng CCDP model, mayroong dalawang kooperatibang tutulungan: isang Small Coconut Farmers Organization (SCFO) katulad ng MCMC na napili ng DA-PCA upang tumutok sa produksyon ng gatas at pag-aalaga ng hayop; at isang conduit cooperative na may pinansyal na kakayahan kagaya ng KMPC na tutulong sa pagpoproseso at pagsasapamilihan ng gatas. Ang session ay isang pagpapatuloy ng nakaraang stakeholder’s strategic planning workshop na naganap sa parehong lugar noong Mayo 21 at 22. Naglalayon itong makagawa ng operation’s plan draft ng mga inaasistehang kooperatiba ng proyekto. Magsisilbing dokumento ang operation’s plan kung paano sila magiging epektibo sa pagpapatakbo ng proyekto sa hinaharap. Inaasahan ang aktibong kooperasyon ng bawa’t kalahok ng session upang matulungan ang mga benipisyaryong magniniyog sa probinsya ng Leyte. Dumalo sa aktibidad sina DA-PCC sa VSU Center Director Francisco Gabunada, Jr., Senior Science Research Specialist Ivy Fe M. Lopez at Community Development Officer Renato Briones. Kasama rin sa writeshop session sina Eduardo Macalandang, DA-PCC CCDP Consultant ng Visayas at Mindanao at Paul Andrew Texon, Operation’s Staff ng DA-PCC sa Office of the Executive Director (OED).
