Kauna-unahang Dairy Box sa Iloilo Oct 2021 CaraBalitaan Dairy Box, Iloilo, CBIN By Maria Antonette Andarza & Chamanei Elias DA-PCC sa WVSU—Nakagayak na ang lupang pagtatayuan ng kauna-unahang Dairy Box sa Iloilo. Ito’y sa pagtutulungan ng Barotac Nuevo Development Cooperative (BNDC) at ng Department of Agricul-ture-Philippine Carabao Center sa West Visayas State University (DA-PCC sa WVSU). Unang Dairy Box sa Tabuc Suba, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo. Isinagawa sa barangay Tabuc Suba, Barotac Nuevo ang groundbreaking ceremonies para sa nasabing pasilidad noong Setyembre 27. Ang Dairy Box ay isang outlet para sa mga produktong ipoprodyus ng mga magsasakang maggagatas ng BNDC. Isang mahalagang aspeto ito ng proyektong Carabao-based Business Improvement Network (CBIN) ng DA-PCC na pinondohan ng opisina ng Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food and Agrarian Reform sa pamamagitan ni Senator Cynthia Villar. Layon ng CBIN ang isang inclusive, sustainable, at highly competitive local dairy industry sa bansa. Sisiguruhin nito ang mga mekanismo para sa maalab na industriya ng pagkakalabawan at paggagatasan mula sa produksyon hanggang sa pagsasapamilihan ng gatas. “Kailangan nating palakasin ang milk production sa ikaapat na distrito ng Iloilo para sa mga miyembro ng BNDC at ng buong bayan ng Barotac Nuevo. Makadadagdag ito sa kanilang kita at makatutulong din sa milk feeding program ng DepEd at DSWD ang maipoprodyus nilang gatas ng kalabaw. Mahalaga ang ganitong mga plano para sa pagpapaganda ng dairy industry ng Pilipinas,” ito ang naging mensahe ni Senator Cynthia Villar sa pagtitipong ginanap. Dinaluhan din ito nina dating Congressman Dr. Ferjenel Biron, Congressman Braeden John Biron, Mayor Bryant Paul Biron, DA-PCC sa WVSU Center Director Arn Granada, BNDC chairperson Antonio Belluga, BNDC vice chairperson Angelito Dasmarinas at provincial board members na sina Edwin Besana, Cyril Sazon, Dydu Bontigao, Romelo Velez, at Dinah Denaque. Ang programa ng CBIN sa Panay ay pinasimunuan ng mga lalawigan ng Antique, partikular na sa mga munisipalidad ng Hamtic at Pandan noong 2019. Sa ilalim ng proyekto ay ang tuluy-tuloy na mga serbisyo ng DA-PCC sa carabao breeding, pagbibigay ng dairy equipment, supplies at teknikal na suporta sa pamamagitan ng training at extension o advisory services. Kamakailan lang, ang Antique Dairy Box sa Western Visayas ay ipinagkatiwala ng DA-PCC sa Hamtic Multi-Purpose Cooperative sa New Public Market at Terminal ng Hamtic, Antique nito lamang Oktubre 8. Ayon kay Director Granada, magsisilbi itong hamon hindi lamang sa Hamtic MPC kundi para na rin sa buong Southern Antique na magpoprodyus ng sarili nilang gatas at seseguro sa bastanteng suplay ng gatas ng kalabaw para sa mga Antiqueño.
