CBIN recipients sa La Union, sumabak sa paggawa ng silage Dec 2021 CaraBalitaan ADCRA, La union, Silage By Jan Rose Maon DA-PCC sa DMMMSU—Isinagawa ang isang pagsasanay sa pagbuburo ng dayami/damo o silage bilang pakain sa mga alagang kalabaw para sa mga recipient ng proyektong Carabao-based Business Im-provement Network (CBIN) ng Aringay Dairy Carabao Raisers Association (ADCRA) noong Nobyembre 13 sa Aringay, La Union. Pagsasanay ng Aringay Dairy Carabao Raisers Association (ADCRA) sa paggawa ng dayami/ damo o silage. Layunin ng pagsasanay na madagdagan ang kaalaman ng mga miyembrong magsasaka sa mga pakain na maaaring ibigay sa kanilang mga alagang kalabaw. Ang mga burong damo ang pangunahing pinagkukunan ng mga kalabaw ng enerhiya, protina at fiber. Ang aktibidad ay dinaluhan ng 20 miyembro ng ADCRA. Ayon kay Melecio Cacanindin, presidente ng ADCRA, dahil sa isinagawang pagsasanay ay nagkaroon sila ng kaalaman tungkol sa masustansya at sapat na pakain para sa kanilang mga alagang kalabaw lalo na sa panahon ng tag-araw kung saan nagkakaroon ng kakulangan sa supply ng pakain sa kanilang mga alaga. Dagdag pa niya, “no stress farming kapag may silage”. Ayon naman kay Reynaldo Paneda, AI at training coordinator ng DA-PCC sa DMMMSU at nanguna sa nasabing pagsasanay: “Masaya akong nakikita na interesado ang mga farmers na matuto sa paggawa ng silage at ipinakikita rin nila na may pagkakaisa ang kanilang organisasyon dahil sa kanilang pagtutulungan sa pagkuha ng forage at dayami na gagamitin sa paggawa ng silage”. Ang mga kalahok ay mabibigyan ng sarili nilang mga drum at molasses na magagamit nila sa pag-iimbak ng silage. Ang ADCRA ay isa sa mga kooperatibang nabigyan ng gatasang kalabaw ng CBIN na proyekto ng DA- PCC at pinondohan ng opisina ni Sen. Cynthia Villar, chairperson ng Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food, and Agrarian Reform. Ang pagsasanay ay dinaluhan ng mga kawani ng lokal na pamahalaan ng Aringay sa pangangasiwa nina Sangguniang Bayan Member Ramsey Mangaoang, Municipal Agriculturist Jessica Peralta, at Elizabeth Carreon. Ang nasabing pagsasanay ay isasagawang muli sa dalawa pang kooperatibang katuwang ng DA-PCC para sa proyektong CBIN.
