Kauna-unahang SOA-DBP sa Davao Region Dec 2021 CaraBalitaan SOA-DBP, DA-PCC sa USM By Rodolfo Jr. Valdez DA-PCC sa USM—Layunin ng DA-Philippine Carabao Center sa University of Southern Mindanao (DA-PCC sa USM) na makapag-abot ng impormasyon ukol sa makabagong teknolohiya sa pagkakalabaw at makapagbukas ng oportunidad na salig sa kalabaw. School-on-the Air on Dairy Buffalo Production (SOA-DBP) sa Davao Region Isinusulong ang layuning ito sa pamamagitan ng paglulunsad ng kauna-unahang School-on-the Air on Dairy Buffalo Production (SOA-DBP) sa Davao Region. Katuwang ang Agricultural Training Institute XI, ginanap ang unang bahagi ng SOA-DBP noong November 12. Tinatayang nasa 500 na magsasaka ang nagpatala mula sa probinsya ng Davao del Sur, Davao de Oro at Davao Oriental. Ang pag-aaral sa himpapawid ay padadaluyin sa DXRD 711KHz Sonshine Radio at sa Facebook pages ng DA-PCC at ATI XI na kapapalooban ng 16 episodes. Ilan sa mga paksang tatalakayin sa SOA-DBP mula Nobyembre 2021 hanggang Marso 2022 ay ang feeding management, feeding production and establishment, forage and feed resources for dairy buffaloes, health management, animal management, disease prevention and control, breeding management, carabao enterprise, at technology adaptation. Nagpahayag naman ng pasasalamat sina ATI OIC Deputy Director Antonietta Arceo at DA-PCC Knowledge Management Division (KMD) Chief Eric Palacpac sa iba’t ibang ahensya ng gobyerno tulad ng ATI at Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation na siyang kabalikat upang maisagawa ang SOA-DBP. Layunin ng SOA-DBP na mapataas ang kaalaman at kakayahan ng mga magkakalabaw sa Davao Region sa pamamagitan ng mga serye ng talakayan tungkol sa wastong teknolohiyang may kinalaman sa pag-aalaga ng kalabaw. Naging sentro naman ng mensahe nina DA-PCC sa USM Center Director Benjamin John Basilio at ATI-XI Director Dante Esguerra ang kahalagahan ng SOA lalung-lalo na sa pagpapalaganap ng Carabao Development Program sa Region XI. “Dito sa Davao Region, mayroon na tayong mga magsasakang kumikita mula sa gatas ng kalabaw. Kaya natin isinagawa ang SOA-DBP ay upang maipaabot sa mas nakararami ang mabuting biyayang hatid ng negosyong salig sa kalabaw. Dahil sa dairy ang kita ay daily,” paghihimok ni Director Basilio. Ang SOA-DBP ay interbensyong natukoy sa pag-aaral ng DA-PCC Knowledge Management Division na pinamagatang “Strengthening Carabao Development Program (CDP) Communication for Development (ComDev) Campaign in Visayas and Mindanao” bilang tugon sa pangangailangan ng mga magsasaka ukol sa kaalaman sa pag-aalaga ng gatasang kalabaw.
