DA-PCC updates Palawan leaders on the progress of the Carabao Dairy Project May 2022 None CDP By Paulyn Saturno "The farmer cooperative Yamang Bukid, as assisted by the DA-Philippine Carabao Center at University of the Philippines Los Baños (DA-PCC at UPLB), has already earned more than three million pesos from the carabao dairy project." DA-PCC updates Palawan leaders on the progress of the Carabao Dairy Project DA-PCC at UPLB Center Director Thelma Saludez gave this encouraging report to participating livestock leaders and DA officials. The project was part of the Carabao-Based Business Improvement Network, which was initiated thru the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Food and Agrarian Reform headed by Senator Cynthia Villar. Currently, the said cooperative also participates in the implementation of DepEd and DSWD’s School-based Feeding Program in the province of Palawan. Dr. Saludez said that dairying is a very good program and business opportunity for cooperatives and associations, especially now that we have a nationwide milk feeding program. For his part, DA-PCC OIC Executive Director Ronnie Domingo highlighted the essentials of returning to the noble values of the Filipinos, the recalibration of plans in response to the current outbreaks and conflicts, and the rebuilding of relationships among industry partners. The forum was organized by the Office of the City Veterinarian of Puerto Princesa City headed by Dr. Indira A. Santiago. USec William Medrano headed the delegation from the DA together with the different livestock agency heads. Also present in the event were DA MIMAROPA-Regional Executive Director Antonio Gerundio, Bureau of Animal Industry OIC ED Dr. Reildrin G. Morales, and Dr. Edelyn David and Dr. Feddik Antonnette J. Serrano, from the National Dairy Authority. During the speech of USec. Medrano, he emphasized the importance of consolidation of the associations together with its partnership and cooperation with the local government unit in helping the DA attain the Masaganang Ani at Mataas na Kita of our local farmers. The Livestock Summit was attended by different farmer leaders and stakeholders from Palawan namely: Palawan Swine Producers Association, Tarabidan Association of Palawan, Palawan Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative Federation, CK Cooperative, Sorosoro Ibaba Development Cooperative, Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm and Farmers Association, Yamang Bukid Farm, Palawan Municipal Agriculture Officers Association, DVS Farm and others from the government sector such as Department of Science and Technology, Dairy Production and Development Center, Livestock Resource Center, Agricultural Production Coordinating Office (APCO), LGU- Puerto Princesa, and officials from the Provincial Office of Palawan.
