‘Kung kaya mo, kayangkaya ko rin!’ Jun 2022 CaraBalitaan Carabalitaan By Coores Celoy DA-PCC NHQGP-Alinsunod sa pagdiriwang ng National Women’s Month, nagsagawa ang DA-PCC ng Gender and Development (GAD) seminar na pinamagatang “Empowered Women, Empowering Women” sa mga farmers at koop members sa DA-PCC National Headquarters noong Marso 29. ‘Kung kaya mo, kayangkaya ko rin!’ Habang ang National Commission for Women (NCW) ay patuloy na nagsisikap upang palawigin ang konsepto ng GAD at ang kahalagahan nito sa pagkamit ng nagkakaisang komunidad na ang lahat ay napapabilang, laganap pa rin ang kaisipang “babae lang ako, ito lang ang kaya o pwede kong gawin”. Bilang patunay na mali nang manahanan sa paniniwalang ‘yan, si Olivia Palazo, natatanging carapreneur, at ang may-ari ng Manuel Olivia Elijah (MOE) Dairy Farm, ay nagbahagi ng kanyang mga karanasan bilang isang carapreneur at kung paano niya nakayanan ang mga hamon sa pagtatatag ng negosyo kahit na siya ay isang “babae lang” sa mata ng ibang tao. Binigyang-diin ni Olivia ang kakayahan ng mga kababaihan sa agrikultura at ibinahagi ang mga papel na kanyang ginagampanan sa kanilang farm. “Minsan, ako ang nagpapagatas sa mga kalabaw, nagpapakain, nagdedeworm, at nagsusumpit”, buong pagmamalaking sabi ni Olivia. Hinihikayat ni Olivia ang mga babaeng magsasaka na makilahok sa iba’t ibang gawain sa agrikultura upang magsilbi silang ehemplo sa ibang kababaihan na huwag tumigil sa pagpapalawig ng kanilang kaalaman at kontribusyon sa lipunan. Bukod sa nakakainspire na testimonya ni Oliva, isa pang pagtitipon tungkol naman sa Magna Carta of Women o R.A. 9710 ang isinagawa na pinangunahan ni Dr. Diadem Gonzales-Esmero, ang DAPhilRice GAD Specialist, bilang tagapagsalita. Sa mga kwento ng tagumpay ng mga babaeng carapreneur, makikita ang aral na hindi sa pisikal na tikas masusukat ang lakas kundi sa paninindigang naitatanim sa puso at naipamamalas sa salita at sa gawa.
