Kwento ng tagumpay ng mga magsasaka sa Rehiyon 1, tampok sa ‘Cara-Ugnayan’ Jun 2022 CaraBalitaan Carabalitaan By Ronaline Canute DA-PCC NHQGP-“Nakita namin kung gaano kaganda!” Kwento ng tagumpay ng mga magsasaka sa Rehiyon 1, tampok sa ‘Cara-Ugnayan’ Ganito inilarawan ng mga magsasaka sa idinaos na Cara-Ugnayan ang Carabao Development Program (CDP) ng Department of Agriculture-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) kung saan sila ay aktibong kalahok. Ang Cara-Ugnayan ay isang plataporma ng ahensya na pinangungunahan ng Knowledge Management Division (KMD) na naglalayong mapalawig at maipaalam ang mga programa ng ahensya sa pamamagitan ng pakikipagugnayan sa lokal na media at mga katuwang na ahensya o institusyon tulad ng Local Government Units (LGUs) at State Universities and Colleges (SUCs). "Nakikita namin ang isang napakahalagang papel na ginagampanan ng lokal na media pagdating sa hindi lamang pagpapakalat ng impormasyon na maaaring makinabang sa marami pa sa aming mga komunidad ng pagsasaka kundi pati na din sa pagtulong sa ating mga progresibong magsasaka na ibahagi ang kanilang mga kuwento ng tagumpay," wika ni Dr. Eric Palacpac, KMD Chief. Ang mga kinilalang kinatawan ng magsasaka ay sina Rolly Mateo, chairperson ng Bantog Samahang Nayon Multi-Purpose Cooperative; Annalyn Tade, manager ng Rosario Dairy Farmers Cooperative; at Freddie Ledda, vice-president ng Team Naguilian Dairy Raisers Association. Ibinahagi ni Mateo na dahil sa dairy enterprise, ang kanilang kapital na Php 10,000 ay naging Php 50M. Aktibong nakikibahagi din sila sa milk feeding program na pinamumunuan ng Department of Education. Gayundin, sinabi ni Tade na ang kinikita ng dairy business ng kanilang kooperatiba ay nagbigay-daan sa kanila na makabili ng lote para mapalawak ang kanilang operasyon. Ang parehong kuwento ay naaangkop kay Ledda, na nagpatotoo sa tumaas na kita ng kanyang pamilya pagkatapos nilang pasukin ang negosyo sa paggagatas. Sa parte naman ng LGU, si Ramsey Mangaoang, isang dating miyembro ng sangguniang bayan at tagapangulo ng Committee on Agriculture sa Aringay, La Union, ay nagpahayag ng kanyang pagpapahalaga sa programa ng kalabaw ng DAPCC at binanggit na ito ay isang mahalagang bahagi ng agenda ng pagpapaunlad ng lokalidad. Aniya, kailangan ang alternatibong kabuhayan ng mga magsasaka sa lokalidad at isa na rito ang carabao enterprise. Dahil dito, umaasa si Mangaoang na paigtingin pa ang isang provincial ordinance na paramihin pa ang kalabaw enterprise sa lalawigan. Samantala, ilan sa mga tanong at paksang tinalakay sa media forum ay ang bull entrustment program, milk feeding program, PLGU at LGU’s support program for carabao development, at iba pa. Ang Cara-Ugnayan ay nakatakdang ipagpatuloy sa iba pang regional centers sa Visayas at Mindanao sa ikalawang semestre ng taong ito.
