Kababaihan sa Banna, sumailalim sa pagpro-proseso ng karne ng kalabaw May 2023 CaraBalitaan carabalitaan By Marijoan Nefulda DA-PCC MMSU-Dalawampu’t-pitong miyembro ng Bannuar Sustainable Livelihood Program Association (Bannuar SLPA) sa Banna, Ilocos Norte ang nakatapos ng dalawang-araw na pagsasanay sa pagpro-proseso ng karne ng kalabaw noong Pebrero 13-14, 2023 na ginanap sa Municipal Hall ng Banna. Kababaihan sa Banna, sumailalim sa pagpro-proseso ng karne ng kalabaw Ang pagsasanay ay bahagi ng proyektong pinamagatang ‘Pilot Kabuhayan sa Karneng Kalabaw’ o EPAHP Kardeli sa ilalim ng Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) Program ng gobyerno. Ito ay pagtutulungan ng Department of Agriculture-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC), Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), Local Government Unit ng Banna, Ilocos Norte at ng DOSTIlocos Norte S&T Office. Ang pangunahing layunin ng proyektong ito ay tugunan ang agwat sa supply ng karne ng baka habang nagbibigay ng suportang kabuhayan upang palakasin ang mga target na farmer-beneficiaries at kooperatiba sa rehiyon at mapabuti ang kanilang mga socio-economic na kondisyon. Ang benepisyo ng Carabao Meat Processing Program ay ang kontribusyon nito sa lokal na ekonomiya. Ang programa ay nagbibigay ng karagdagang kita para sa mga magsasaka, na siya namang nagpapasigla sa paglago ng sektor ng agrikultura. Lumilikha din ito ng mga oportunidad sa trabaho sa industriya ng pagpoproseso ng karne, partikular sa mga rural na lugar kung saan kakaunti ang mga oportunidad sa trabaho. Bukod dito, ang karne ng kalabaw ay isang mas malusog na alternatibo sa iba pang karne tulad ng baboy at baka. Ito ay mas payat at may mas mababang kolesterol at taba. Ang karne ng kalabaw ay mayaman din sa protina, iron, at iba pang mahahalagang sustansya na kapaki-pakinabang para sa katawan. Sa pagtataguyod ng pagkonsumo ng karne ng kalabaw, hinihikayat ng programa ang mas malusog na pamumuhay sa mga Pilipino.
