DA-PCC, DA-AMAS launch 1st-ever Kadiwa ng Pangulo sa Dairy Box in Davao Region

To provide farmers the opportunity to sell their local products as well as milk produce, the DA-Philippine Carabao Center at University of Southern Mindanao (DA-PCC at USM) and the DA-Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance-Region XI launched the first Kadiwa ng Pangulo (KNP) sa Dairy Box in Davao Region last April 8 in partnership with Inyam Pintuan Asbang Multi-Purpose Cooperative (IPAMCO), Matanao, Davao del Sur.

This initiative will provide the local farmers an opportunity to directly sell their produce without the need for middlemen to promote their products such as carabao-based products including buffalo milk, yogurt, ice cream, and many more. It is a step toward a more accessible market for the people of Davao del Sur while ensuring high-quality products at more affordable prices.

As part of the convergence of terms and conditions between DA-PCC at USM and DA-AMAS, it was emphasized that both agencies shall assist the IPAMCO, as the Dairy Box operator and the conduit cooperative of DA-PCC at USM, in complying with requirements to maintain the KNP sa Dairy Box in Davao region.

“We are sure that this KNP sa Dairy Box is an avenue not only for consolidating the local carabao value chain but also for building a more sustainable and resilient rural economy. We will continue to work closely with our partners to achieve good long-term results,” DA-PCC at USM Center Director Geoffray R. Atok said.

According to Matanao municipal agriculturist Engr. Leonaveth Mejias, the location’s proximity is one important factor to consider as it can significantly affect sales. With this in mind, the municipality aims to establish a more accessible shop to increase sales and reach a wider market.

“Mas mabuti na magkaroon ng mga abot-kayang produkto sa Dairy Box lalo na’t ang other Kadiwa programs ay nasa Poblacion. Mas convenient na malapit lang sa mga mamimili ang Dairy Box area at mabibigyan pa ito ng maraming customers na bibili ng gatas ng kalabaw,” she added.

Moreover, to ensure product quality and conformance, all products for sale at the Kadiwa Dairy Box must secure approval prior to display.

The Kadiwa program is at the core of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s food security agenda, driving inclusive growth in the agriculture sector while strengthening the nation’s supply chains.
