Cebu farmers enhance value-adding skills for Dairy Box store

Ten members of the First Consolidated Cooperative Along Tañon Seaboards (FCCT)-Tabuelan, Cebu were equipped with the skills to transform fresh milk into a wide range of value-added dairy products. These include pasteurized milk, toned milk, mango-flavored milk, chocomilk, yogurt, ice cream, milk cake, squash cake, and banana loaf, among others.

FCCT-Tabuelan currently manages a Dairy Box outlet, which was established through the agency’s Carabao-Based Business Improvement Network (CBIN) project in December 2024. Operations in the store started with products supplied from the FCCT-Tuburan branch initially.

To complement the capacity building of the co-op members in local production, the trainees were provided with a three-day hands-on training on milk handling and processing from April 8-10, 2025. Among the topics covered during the training were food safety protocols, proper techniques of handling milk, and effective marketing strategies for turning their products into profitable ventures.

After the training, the cooperative will be expected to continuously process and sell such products in its own outlet.

According to Guillerma Abay-abay, DA-PCC at Ubay Stock Farm’s Carabao-Based Enterprise Development (CBED) coordinator, the training is expected to enable FCCT-Tabuelan to consistently produce and supply its own dairy products to meet the demands of its store.

The training was conducted by the DA-PCC at USF at the Dairy Box-Tabuelan Processing Plant in Pajo, Poblacion, Tabuelan, Cebu.
