In a move to diversify its ventures and empower its members, the Koop King Multipurpose Cooperative embarked on a lecture and training on silage production hosted by the Department of Agriculture-Philippine Carabao Center at UPLB (DA-PCC at UPLB) held at DA-PCC at UPLB Training Hall and Institutional Herd, July 11. This aimed to equip the cooperative's personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to evaluate and potentially implement silage production as a new business area. The core of the program was an insightful lecture delivered by Reynald D. Amido, Science Research Analyst at DA-PCC at UPLB delving into the intricacies of "Silage Production: Practices, Innovations, and Business Potential," providing attendees with an understanding of forage management, effective ensiling techniques, crucial quality control measures, utilization, and business potential. Following the lecture, attendees participated in an on-site demonstration at the DA-PCC at UPLB institutional herd, allowing for hands-on experience and a clearer visualization of the processes involved in silage production. The training was specifically requested by the Koop King MPC, demonstrating their proactive approach to exploring new economic opportunities. Col. Susthenes Valcorza PAF (Ret), director of Koop King MPC, expressed profound gratitude for the opportunity. "Kami ay nagpapasalamat because this our first time, we are just so excited to start in our business. Sana maging profitable ito para makatulong kami sa mga members namin at sa future generation na ma encourage namin lalo na ang mga kabataan ngayon,” highlighting the cooperative's vision for sustainable growth and its commitment to empowering its members and the youth through innovative business ventures. This training is invaluable in equipping the Koop King MPC team with the in-depth knowledge required to make well-informed decisions and develop a robust plan for their potential involvement in silage production, ultimately paving the way for a promising new chapter in their cooperative's journey.
