DA-PCC participates in expanded School-Based Feeding Program national launch

The DA-Philippine Carabao Center (DA-PCC) participated in the national launching of the expanded School-Based Feeding Program (SBFP) held on July 21, 2025, at Juan Sumulong Elementary School in Antipolo City.

The event marked a significant milestone in the continued efforts of the national government to address hunger and improve the nutritional status of Filipino learners, in support of the implementation of Republic Act No. 11037, otherwise known as the Masustansyang Pagkain para sa Batang Pilipino Act.

The launching ceremony was led by Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Juan Edgardo “Sonny” Angara, and was graced by Senator Sherwin “Win” Gatchalian, a long-time advocate of educational reforms and youth nutrition. The event brought together various partner agencies, stakeholders, and implementing institutions in a show of unified commitment to advance child nutrition and learning outcomes.

As one of DepEd’s active partners, DA-PCC reaffirmed its full support to the SBFP through its Milk Feeding Program, which provides fresh, locally produced carabao’s milk to undernourished children in schools nationwide. The agency’s participation highlighted the crucial role of the local dairy industry in ensuring food security and supporting the livelihoods of dairy farmers, while promoting health and wellness among Filipino students.

The activity also served as a venue for inter-agency coordination, sharing of good practices, and strengthening of collaborative efforts to scale up the reach and impact of the SBFP. DA-PCC, along with other government and private sector partners, expressed its continued commitment to help address malnutrition among school-aged children through sustainable and community-based nutrition interventions.
